Part 3- Paint & Flooring

To make things easier my husband used a paint sprayer and painted the whole house the same color (Swiss coffee by Behr).  If we decided to add an accent color wall it would be easy to do at a later date. We were lucky enough to borrow a paint sprayer from a friend but you can buy them at your local hardware store.

Because we demoed pretty much the whole house, we didn’t have a whole lot of prep work before painting.  Just the windows showers & tubs. All the doors in the house we took down and placed them in one room to paint them a different color (Sherwin Williams Gauntlet gray). Once we painted the doors we painted that room the same color as the rest of the house. Made it sooo much easier.

Some walls were brown & others were blue. We didn’t bother covering the light fixtures or fans because we replace all of them after painting.

Finally the flooring! This was our first time laying flooring so we learned a lot along the way.  I found this Laminate flooring at Sams Club for an amazing price! The style is Driftwood. We used this flooring throughout the whole house to make it easier.  What’s cool about this flooring is it has the padding already attached which saved us a lot of money.  All Laminate flooring needs a padding underneath.

You first need to lay this plastic underlayment down to prevent moisture from coming up to the flooring.  There are directions on the box that were really helpful too!  You start from the farthest corner of the house. In our case it was the front window to the right when you walk in the front door.  Currently its our entertaining/bar room.

They really are beautiful in person. After having these floors for a year now, I highly recommend them.  They are German made! We are so happy with them!
